Christen K. Richard, M.D.

As an energetic native of North Dakota, Dr. Christen Richard practices at our East Side offices in Portland and Gresham.  She graduated with honors from North Dakota State University with a B.S. degree in microbiology and minor in chemistry. She was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society while attending the University of North Dakota School of Medicine for medical school and internship. Dr. Richard completed her ophthalmology residency at the Oregon Health & Science University’s Casey Eye Institute.

In 2004, she joined Oregon Eye Specialists. Dr. Richard is a board certified, comprehensive ophthalmologist performing examinations and surgery in the areas of cataract, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, and oculoplastics with a specialization in the advanced techniques of topical, suture-less cataract surgery. She is currently accepting patients of all ages. 

Dr. Richard serves on the board for the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology as a delegate for the Oregon Medical Association. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. As an attending physician at the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center, she teaches ophthalmic surgery. Dr. Richard is also an appointed Clinical Instructor at the Casey Eye Institute.

Dr. Richard has volunteered in Project Erase, a local program, aimed at laser removal of gang tattoos from people looking to change their lives. She enjoys biking to work and on the weekends, cross-country skiing, volleyball, cooking, and spending time with her husband.
